The Finnish Institute of Character Analytic Body Psychotherapy is the representative of psychotherapists in Finland specialized in Body Psychotherapy. The aim of the institute is to bring Body Psychotherapy to public knowledge, to create and maintain international contacts and to develop the working opportunities of body psychotherapists. The institute and its members are willing to give information to those who want to know more about Body Psychotherapy both in Finland and abroad.
The Finnish Institute of Character Analytic Body Psychotherapy RS was founded in 1999 (original name The Finnish Institute of Character Analytic Vegetotherapy). Character Analytic Body Psychotherapy has, however, been practiced in Finland for over twenty years. Our aim is to promote health, to alleviate psychic and physical suffering, and to enhance the quality of life in individuals. We believe that by working with individuals we can indirectly affect the life of our society.
The Institute organizes training in Character Analytic Body Psychotherapy, as well as offers information and education. We pursue to support publication of literature and research in Body Psychotherapy, as well as to do research work in this field. We participate in international congresses and training seminars. The Institute arranges congresses and seminars at which international specialists also give lectures and training. These are aimed for the members of the Institute, as well as, occasionally, to other professionals interested in the field of Body Psychotherapy.
Members of the Institute are qualified psychotherapists. The Institute organizes training in psychotherapy, specializing in Character Analytic Body Psychotherapy. Our four year training program is accredited by the European Association of Psychotherapy (EAP), in other words, it meets the training standards set by the EAP. The Finnish National Authority for Medicolegal Affairs has granted the right to use the occupational title of psychotherapist for those who have completed the training and have a relevant basic training. Character Analytic Body Body Psychotherapy (Character Analytic Vegetotherapy) has been accredited as a psychotherapy method by the EAP.
The Institute serves as a cooperation organisation for body psychotherapists. Its members follow the ethical rules accepted by the EAP.
The Institute is an active member in the European Association for Body Psychotherapy, in its Scandinavian sub-section, in International Federation of Orgonomic Colleagues (IFOC) and in the European Association of Psychotherapy (EAP).
